Products I use
Recently I have been very interested in this ‘zero-waste’ lifestyle and how to live by it and therefor I thought I would do a ‘products I use’ to show You how I get through my morning and evening routine without damaging the environment too much and still keep my hair and skin healthy.
All the products are vegan and without microplastic fibers.
I tend to get very dry hands and I have tried almost every vegan hand cream. Last year I bought this one from LUSH, which is called Handy Gurugu. I have used it every day since and my hands actually looks like hands again. They used to be red, rough and filled with scratches from dryness. They are now soft and smooth. It costs under 10 pounds so it is very affordable, even for students which I really appreciate.
It is specially made for hard-working hands. Even though it is not a light cream it seeks into the skin quickly and smells delicious.
It is made of shea, peanut, cashew and almond butters, pumpkinseeds and an infusion of rosewater which reduces redness and helps to hydrate your skin. It also contains primrose, lemon juice and chamomile oil.
I do not wash my hair with shampoo very often. Maybe once every tenth day. I used to be one of those girls washing my hair every other day as it would get all greasy. Last year I read about the no-poo lifestyle and decided to give it a try. In the beginning I just threw all of my shampoos out and bought Rasul and Apple-vinegar oil as a substitute to shampoo. For the first month I only used apple-vinegar oil and after a month I tried out Rasul. Two months ago I started using shampoo again. Not because the no-poo didn’t work, it definitely did, but because I was in a situation where I had to use shampoo. Now I just use water when showering, once every second month I use Rasul and then every tenth day I use this shampoo bar from LUSH. I just bought a brand new one as I have used the old one up.
It is from LUSH as well as the hand cream and it is called Jumping Juniper and smells like candy. It contains lavender oil, rosemary essential oil, lemon and lime oils which all together gives a deep cleansing and leave the hair all shiny.
Every evening I use my organic, virgin coconut oil as a facial moisturiser. It is anti fungal, antibacterial and makes my skin so so soft and hydrated. Every other morning I do 15-20 minutes of oil pulling, depending on how much time I have. Oil pulling draws out toxins of your body and improve your oral health. Last but not least I apply coconut oil on my whole body after showering to feel fresh, hydrated and moist. Coconut oil is amazing. As you can see I use it for a lot of different things and it is easy to take with me while travelling. It is all natural and does not contain any chemicals. So, always have a can of coconut oil in your kitchen as well as bathroom. You will not regret it.
